I don’t know about you, but I was so pleased to learn that Paul Ryan, our very own Marshall Petain, had received “assurances” from the White House that special counsel Robert Mueller would not be fired. I wonder if that assurance was the same that he received when he said the President supported the Omnibus Spending Bill right before the President threatened to veto it. Or maybe he got the same assurance that the hundreds of contractors received before they were stiffed by the Trump Organization over the past 30 years. Mitch McConnell weighed in with some vague comments which were designed to signal that there was no need for Congress to do anything to protect the special counsel.

Since Congress has given this President a free hand, is it any wonder he feels free to lie to them with impunity? He has figured out they are so afraid of his followers that they will not dare to challenge his most egregious behavior. And now with the “let Trump be Trump” brigade taking over in several key positions, the only question is when, not if, the special counsel is sent packing.

His lawyer, John Dowd, has left. It could be a disagreement on strategy or perhaps he too wasn’t getting his bills paid. With this President you are never sure. And with Jared meandering down Mexico way, there is no telling the damage that is being done. Or perhaps he is soliciting Carlos Slim to bail his family business out of their problems with real estate in New York.

Meanwhile, the Democrats continue to act like they are searching fora way to not take the Congress. In the new spending bill, the Dreamers lost, but Chuck Schumer got his Tunnel for New York. We need to keep our priorities straight. Pork barrel spending trumps everything. Pun intended.
