Who in their right mind would put Herman Cain on the Federal Reserve Board? While he served on the St. Louis Fed Board in the 90’s, this was before he was dealing with sexual harassment charges that sunk his Presidential campaign and before his famous “9,9,9” chant that was a tax plan to solve all of our problems and never understood by anyone, including Herman Cain himself.
Well, our President, in the grand tradition of his other stellar appointments (think Pruitt, Zenke, Ross, Flynn, et al) has actually found a worse choice. I am surprised that Jared Kushner couldn’t do this while he is preparing his peace plan the Middle East; apparently, he was too busy getting money to bail out his family’s real estate fiasco. Maybe he is the one who will design the Republican Healthcare plan in his spare time.
I must say that Joe Biden continues his march toward looking too old. Not physically, but his reaction to his “touchy-feely” problem was slow-footed and inadequate. Whenever you have Donald Trump make fun of your treatment of women you should revise your approach. While, unlike Trump, Biden is not a sexual predator, it is still unsettling to see Biden so out of touch with the complaints. I feel confident that most other Democratic candidates (except Bernie) would have put this issue to bed by now.
So, as the Democratic field gets larger, I think we are going to see the following unfold: Bernie will be in this until the convention. He has a high floor (around 18%) and a low ceiling (around 25%). He will raise $100 million and has the ego to not stop regardless of the consequences or his chances. Biden will get in this month and we will see two things. First, can he raise the money he needs? I am doubtful. Secondly, can he sustain his support as the other candidates get better known and are on the stage with him at the debates? I am doubtful about that as well.
Waiting in the wings, we have Kamala Harris, Beto and Mayor Pete. They all have the ability to raise money and are new to the national political scene. If I were to bet on the eventual nominee, one of these three would get my money. As to the general election, those of us who know that Trump could never win should remain silent and perhaps explore alternative living locations if history repeats itself.
Great analysis ( although I ‘d like you see Joe at a debate with Trump) and I already e mailed Becky Pruett this morning on how to move to New Zealand or we can all but a barge on the Douro.
