As things get more out of control than ever, it is time to check in.  First of all, the Democrats are foolishly pursuing Attorney General Barr over his failure to produce the unredacted version of the Mueller Report.  Instead, they should be holding him in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify if he won’t after issuing a subpoena.

Speaking of which, wasn’t it wonderful to see Donald Trump’s new butt boy, Lindsay Graham, tell Donald Trump Jr. to ignore a subpoena from the Senate?  In case anyone wondered whether he was taking on the role of Marshall Petain of Vichy, recently relinquished by Paul Ryan, this latest epistle should have been enough to secure him the title.

And by the way, if the Democrats want to really get this administration to provide the material requested, they need to do what was done to effectively end the Vietnam War and end the legal help to the Contras in Nicaragua.  They need to cut off funding for all of the folks that won’t comply.  When the Senate won’t go along, they can make this their Merrick Garland moment and let the Senate shut down the government over it.  At least they would be getting the attention of the American people to try and keep the role of Congress relevant.

We were once again treated the sight of Rudy Giuliani slithering his way across the stage in an effort to get support from a foreign government for the Trump campaign.  By this time no one should be surprised to watch Rudy lie and cheat his way through most things.  He is trying to measure up to his patron.

As to the President and his tariffs on Chinese goods, he is as usual unwilling to tell the truth. If you believe this will work to make the Chinese behave better, don’t lie to the American people about who pays the tariffs.  It isn’t China.  It is all of us in the USA who buy things with parts made in China or wholly made merchandise that comes from there.  Just admit there will be pain for everyone but the deal is worth it.

It is amusing to see that the President turns out to be the biggest loser of money in the country.  He claims to be such a smart dealmaker and obviously he is not. North Korea, China, Mexico, EU, the Congress are examples of how well he was going to do but failed.  It isn’t bad to try and fail.  What is bad is to fail and claim you succeeded and then blame everyone else when the results are bad.

I am amused when cable news gets all atwitter about Trump disrupting conventional Presidential norms.  That is why he was elected. What those who voted for him didn’t expect was the level of corruption, both financial and institutional, that he would bring with him.  But then they thought he was a smart businessman and deal maker.

Perhaps the new handle on Twitter ought to be @DonaldTheLoser.
