Ok, it is time to launch an impeachment inquiry. I know all the reasons people don’t want to. “It will enrage Trump’s base.” Doesn’t matter. “He will never be convicted by the Senate.” Doesn’t matter. What matters is that he has behaved in a way that no other President could have and not been impeached. If they don’t move forward with this action, they may as well take the part about impeachment out of the Constitution. This is only to be taken in extreme cases.
Well, folks, if you actually read the Mueller report, it is hard to reach a different conclusion than that explained by the Republican Congressman Justin Amash who now advocates impeachment. And, if this goes on until spring, the House can decide if they want to impeach or just censure, leaving the final decision to the voters.
If the House does decide to act, let me suggest a way forward. First of all, never listen to the fool who thought it was a good idea to have John Dean as a witness. It was only rivaled by the moron who brought Kentucky Fried Chicken to the hearing to imply that the reason AG Barr didn’t appear was because he was, you guessed it, “chicken.” When you try to match Trump on creating a Barnum and Bailey sideshow, you will always come up short.
I would proceed with an impeachment inquiry by methodically laying out the case with witness after witness. Save Mueller until the end or let him frame the case. He will surely say, “as I said in my report,” about 100 times, but how many people actually read it? Whatever the case, I have confidence that if you treat Americans as normal people who can tell right from wrong, the outcome will be just fine.
