A while back, I wrote that I hoped that Trump would not spawn a new generation of Republican wannabes. This, like other hopes, appears to be futile. We have a group of Republican Senators vying for the title of most Trumpian as they plan a 2024 Presidential campaign.

Of course, we start with Lindsey Graham who, for a chance to play golf with the President, has abandoned virtually every belief he ever expressed when he was running around with the late John McCain. Tom Cotton has just gotten into the act but, given his history, it is no surprise. And, of course, our favorite, Rand Paul, who thinks it is ok to threaten fellow senators and out whistleblowers. Who does things like that?  Only our President. His dust-up with his neighbor several years ago is more understandable…from his neighbor’s point of view.

This is the future of the Republican Party. And after Mitt Romney voted to bear from witnesses and BEFORE he voted to convict Trump, he was uninvited to CPAC, the large conservative gathering, which is an outgrowth of the GOP.

Perhaps if the Democrats can nominate anyone but Bernie, we can crush this behavior. If not, we will be overrun by mini me’s who want to be like our President.  If that doesn’t scare you, I don’t know what will.
