I don’t know about you, but I was mildly uncomfortable when our President told us not to worry about the Coronavirus. I think he must believe it because he put Vice President Pence in charge of overseeing activity to contain the virus in the US.

He cites the extensive experience Pence had as Governor of Indiana and said that his dealing with viral outbreaks served as a model for other states.

It should surprise no one that this is not true. Actually, when there was an HIV outbreak while Pence was governor, he rejected initially the public health professionals’ advice for a needle exchange program and suggested that they rely on prayer as a strategy. When, strangely enough, that didn’t stop the epidemic, a needle exchange program was instituted and, surprise surprise, it worked.

While watching our President and Vice President yesterday, I kept waiting for their proposed solution to be a modern-day version of everyone clicking their heels together chanting “there is no place like home.”  Or perhaps it will be “there’s no one like Trump.”
