Of all the things Donald Trump has done to disrupt our society in his four years as President, perhaps what he is doing now is the most insidious.

He lost the election. This is an indisputable fact. I suppose when you have chosen to live in an alternate universe nothing is indisputable, just look at his approach to mask wearing.

However, when you challenge election results with no substantive evidence other than Giuliani-inspired nonsense, you are truly undermining America. It is such an irresponsible action that it makes even those of us determined to be unsurprised by anything Trump does, gasp in horror.

As those of you who have read my musings know, I was not a Hillary Clinton fan. However, she acted appropriately when, to her and most other people’s amazement, Trump won in 2016. She may have sulked, but she did it privately and never questioned the veracity of the count. She had ample reason to complain about the Russians and Comey, but she never implied that Trump had not won. It was because she understood the damage she could cause to our country by claiming fraud.

So, for all of you Clinton haters out there, here is a big difference:  Donald Trump doesn’t care what damage he does. It is, as always, all about him. And while he will fail in his lawsuits, leave the White House, and probably stiff his lawyers, he will wreak havoc on his way out the door.

The only consolation we have is that he will be gone, and we can try to repair the damage he caused to our capacity to work, live, and prosper as one undivided nation.
