As we reach the end of the year and the term of Trump, it is important to remember how bad these last several days have been. The devastating impact of Covid goes on with no acknowledgment from the President of the suffering and death that continues to happen every day.
Instead, he continues this farce that he actually won the election. And in case anyone wonders how these things evolve, think about the idea of Holocaust denial. At the end of WWII, as the camps were found and the unthinkable was uncovered, who would have believed that years later a cottage industry of denial would be prevalent in some quarters of the western world. Yet, it is and if we don’t pay attention, this myth of how Trump actually won the election may stay with us for years to come.
His efforts to undermine the country continue to be appalling if not surprising. His efforts to monetize his departure only puts him in the upper echelon of grifters.
I began writing this blog after he was elected four years ago to explain to my friends in Portugal why I believed he had won. These same friends heard me tell them that I thought he would not be re-elected. Fortunately, I was correct.
In fact, Donald Trump lost the popular vote in his two elections by around 10 million votes combined. So here is one place where he is clearly first among all politicians in American history. He is the biggest loser of all time. Well, he wanted to be first at something.
Unfortunately, I think he was also the second biggest vote getter in American history. I look forward to your comments about his recent pardons which I find equally disgusting. I hope all is well with you and your family. Stay safe and healthy. Jake
