Well, we finally found out the answer to what will it take for elected Republicans to publicly break with Trump. Apparently, his “good people on both sides” in Charlottesville, his “perfect phone call” with the President of the Ukraine, and his border control that put children in cages and separated families were not enough to break their silence.

Now, with his unapologetic assault on our election result, some have finally found their voices. It seems the consciences of Ben Sasse, Pat Toomey, Rob Portman and others had merely been put into hypnotic trances for four years and this latest effort by Trump was indeed a bridge too far.

Not so, however, for the likes of Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz. They, along with 10 of their other colleagues (11 now that Stepford Wife, Kelly Loeffler, has added her name to this dishonor roll) have decided to aid and abet Trump on this endeavor is good for them politically. As they point out, the people they represent have questioned the outcome after being told by these same Senators to question the outcome.

All of this is both helpful to Biden, and destructive for America. With McConnell no longer having a united caucus, the Senate may actually function. The key to progress, however, is that, if in four years a Republican is elected President, but the Democrats control the Congress, they will not use this horrific behavior to justify doing the same.
