So, who asks for a recount in an election lost by almost 20 points? Kansas Republicans who believe that any election with a result they don’t like must be wrong, that’s who.
This is only one of the many examples of how the ludicrous idea of a stolen election has infected the Republican Party. It is sad but more evidence of how they have ceased to be redeemable.
If those Republicans who don’t accept the lies of Trump and think they can somehow reclaim their party are paying attention, they know the sad truth. They have to find another way forward. Becoming Democrats is not an answer for many of them. I understand that. However, their real challenge now is not reclaiming their party. That is no longer an option. Once they realize that, they can create a way forward that gives our country a legitimate conservative alternative. Until then, we are doomed to have a choice that leaves so many good people on the sidelines and that is not what a democracy is supposed to be about.

Six months ago, I would have agreed with you 100%. I think that recent developments may have started to chip away at the edges of the GOP, as the party of craziness. Their primary, possibly only, concern is to win elections. If their lunatic candidates lose elections, at least at the federal level, that will get their attention. Even Mitch McConnell has evidently realized that “quality of candidates” might be a factor keeping them from power. They might, at least superficially, start to behave more rationally and productively. As of now, we should be at least, if not more, concerned and focussed on state and local elections, as they will produce the future “leaders” of the GOP. And craziness still seems to work at that level.
