As the year comes to a close, it seems appropriate to look forward to what lies ahead.

First, as we watch Kevin McCarthy embrace Marjorie Taylor Greene and her Jewish space lasers, and Loren Boebert and her “hammers kill more people than guns” idiocy, it is ominous that this is what a Republican must do to gain the Speakership in the House.

Democrats, meanwhile, seem to have taken the wrong message from the midterm elections. Biden’s lack of popularity was overshadowed by candidate quality and Donald Trump. The immediate embrace of a second term for a President beginning at age 82, even one as successful policy-wise as Biden, is foolishness. Biden has done his job, beaten Trump and now it is time to hand the reins over to a new generation. Let’s hope it happens.

Meanwhile, for those of you who long for Ron DeSantis instead of Trump I would point out the following. Trump lives for the spotlight and DeSantis wants power. His ruthlessness is on display in Florida, just ask Disney.
