As we watch the Republican shitshow in the House, it is a good object lesson for all of us.

McCarthy was willing to do almost anything to be Speaker. He wanted it so badly that he rescued Trump after January 6. As usual, Trump gave him a shout out but used no political capital when it might have really helped.

The objectors are really silly people. They don’t know how to govern except by objecting and vilifying their opponents.

There may be a silver lining to all of this. Perhaps the non-crazy Republicans will see what they have allowed to take place in the evolution of their party. I am not hopeful, but perhaps this reality check will make them modify their behavior.

Finally, I wonder when the crazies will recognize that if they just vote present, Jeffries will be elected Speaker and they can spend all of their time and venom disrupting the efforts of a Democrat. Since they have no governing principles or interests, this could be the result they will find the best.
