As we enter the new year, there are a few bright and light moments deserving of commentary…

First, we can all watch Ron DeSantis crash and burn after wasting $300 million worth of his supporters’ contributions. His cringeworthy candidate skills have been on full display. Perhaps his candidacy can be summed up in an answer an aide gave privately regarding the 6-week abortion ban he pushed in Florida: It plays well in Iowa. I suspect Iowa will send him on his way home.

A lighter moment comes from Rand Paul who now opposes Nicki Haley. His embracing of Trump in 2016 and 2020 was so embarrassing for someone who claims to be a non-politician. Now he is saying that he could support Vivek Ramaswamy as the nominee. Apparently, just when we think we have seen the bottom, these guys find a sub-sub-basement.
