Watching the Russian foreign minister speak of terrorism by Ukraine prompted me to ask: Who learned from whom?
Russia has committed so many atrocities during its invasion; it is like pleading for mercy as an orphan after killing one’s parents.
The other party to this mindlessness is, of course, our own Donald Trump. He claims that he won an election he lost. The only people who don’t know that are his followers who believe everything he says. His unwillingness to accept election results is a true threat to democracy, which of course he accuses his opponents of by not agreeing with his lie that he won the last Presidential election.
On a more sober note, we have the election contest no one wanted. Trump vs. Biden. Many people told me over the last two years that they hoped it wouldn’t be the choice; alas, hope is not a strategy. Those Democrats who think Biden is a weak candidate needed to do more to encourage him not to run even if he didn’t want to hear it.
For a number of years, Republican electeds have been unwilling to confront Trump even after January 6, felony indictments, and his repeated lies about the election of 2020.
So, we are where we are. If anyone thinks this will not be a close race, they are back in the hope business.
