So, now that a jury has awarded E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million in damages after finding he sexually abused her, Donald Trump left the courtroom muttering, “This isn’t America.”

Well, it certainly isn’t Trump’s America.  That’s the place where he’s been stiffing vendors and business partners for years and where he grabs women against their will with no consequences.

I am still undone by the willingness to look past this by elected officials who claim to have basic human values. By contrast, perhaps some of them are awed by his complete lack of basic human decency.  Maybe they secretly wish they could behave in the same way and not be held accountable.

In some ways, it would be ironic if enough Americans were so sickened by this latest trial that his ultimate felony conviction(s) would be only a coda to his descent into political purgatory.

Perhaps those who think Trump was sent to them by G-d will wonder what else the Almighty has in store for them. Frogs, perhaps?
