Well, the Veep stakes got a lot uglier this past weekend. Doug Bergum reluctantly agreed, after criticizing Biden for being anti-fossil fuels, that oil production in the US was higher than ever. He added it should be higher which is like saying high should be higher.

Meanwhile, Tom Cotten claimed a media conspiracy to ignore the Hunter Biden laptop story which, by his calculations, cost Trump the votes he would have had otherwise to win in 2020 (which, of course, he and his fellow VP contenders still claim Trump actually won).

Finally, as a coda to the Trump era, on CNN, Lara Trump snarled at the mention of Larry Hogan, Republican candidate for the US Senate in Maryland, who had the audacity to say before the verdict in the Trump trial that the rule of law should be respected. For that apostasy, he is not going to receive help from the Republican National Committee.

Trump can do this to his party candidates now. If he is President again, imagine who else will be targeted.
