There has been some reporting on former President Trump’s efforts to receive financial support from the business community. Normally this is a source of support for Republican Presidents. Trump, however, with his xenophobic rants, has given this community pause. While they may find the Biden Presidency too heavy-handed with regulation, the chaos of a future Trump Presidency is of great concern.

There are two reasons why the corporate community will come around and support Trump.

The first is that the corporate tax cuts of his first term expire in 2025 unless renewed.

The second, and, frankly, more importantly, is that they know that Trump is vindictive. If they fail to support him and he wins, they are in for a tough time. On the other hand, if they support him and Biden wins, there is no time in the penalty box. Whatever other failings Biden’s Presidency may produce, using personal grudges to target individuals and companies is not one of them.

Isn’t it ironic that while Trump and his followers constantly whine about how they are being treated, the corporate world knows what (who) the real threat is. Hence, they will tithe for Trump to avoid his ire without worrying about offending Biden.

Strange times indeed.
