In case you missed it, the Obama show last night was amazing. Two powerful orators with the ability to connect people to the choices before them.
While all political conventions have become pep rallies, this was special. Since the Obamas stay out of the public eye on politics most of the time, seeing them together was a remarkable event. They made the case for Kamala Harris and against Trump with humor and grace. It recalled a time when Obama and McCain and Romney could run against each other, but still maintain their fundamental decency in the process.
I did enjoy the “Second Gentleman’s” remarks. It was a very human story about himself and his courtship with Kamala. It is a good reminder for us all that what makes our country great are the stories of each of our lives and how we have moved forward. It also underscores the need to continue to open doors and give a chance to all who call this country home.
