Now that the Texas primary has been held, Trump will get involved. He will endorse Cornyn and give a position to Paxton who has been a follower of his in ways beyond embarrassment.

Whether that will salvage the seat remains to be seen. While Texas has been the “white whale” for Democrats, Talarico offers an interesting choice for those disgusted with Trump but rarely wild vote for a Democrat. Meanwhile, the MAGA crowd that loved Paxton will have to swallow Trump’s disloyalty to yet another acolyte. It is possible that they won’t bother to vote in November.
