And now the real witch-hunt begins.

While this has been a favorite cry of our snowflake President against the multiple investigations of his conduct, we now see a real one in progress.

For historical reference, one should read about the McCarthy era in the 1950s when people were driven from government and blacklisted by whole industries during Joe McCarthy’s assault on democracy. As a side note, his counsel during this shameful period was none other than Donald Trump’s mentor, Roy Cohn.

And now the President has ordered his new personnel Chief to ferret out those government employees who are not sufficiently loyal – not to the country – but to Trump himself.

All administrations want people who support their endeavors, but we rarely see such an undisguised assault on people who are unwilling to bend the truth for the boss. We certainly haven’t seen such an effort to unearth disloyalty to one person since the days of the so-called “Red Menace.”

Who knows, maybe we look back on this period and it will be dubbed the “Orange Menace.”
