No one can be surprised by the reaction of President Trump to his electoral loss. Remember he told us that the only way he could lose was if there was fraud and the election was stolen. And, on reality television, that actually works.

What is impressive is to see that his son, Don Jr., has now become the ringmaster of the Republican Party. After he tweeted that they needed to get with the program, the dynamic duo of Ted Cruz and Lindsay Graham hopped to it to go on Fox and decry the unseen fraud. Lindsay is even promising hearings next year into how insidious voting by mail is.

Meanwhile, we have candidates who embrace QAnon supporters in Georgia — Laughlin —and defeated candidates who campaigned with felon Roger Stone — Collins (Georgia again).

Here are the facts:  Biden won and Trump lost. This is not one state with a thin margin. Even if irregularities occurred, which happen in every election, they are either not able to be redeemed, wouldn’t change the outcome or, in most cases, both. Just as the confusion caused by the famous “butterfly ballot” in Florida in 2000 created a warped result, no remedy exists.

Expecting Trump and his family and fellow grifters to be gracious in defeat is a fool’s errand. My only hope is that, when the air clears, at least the taxpayers can get paid for the use of Air Force One during the last weeks of the campaign. I suspect, however, that it will be just one more debt of our deadbeat President that he leaves behind. Sadly, it won’t be the worst thing he has done by far.
