Thomas Paine wrote in 1776 about the coming American Revolution, “these are the times that try men’s souls.” After watching today’s display of radical assault on the Capitol, encouraged by the President and his swamp dwelling lawyer, Rudy the Dripper, I can only hope that those remaining elected Republicans will finally recognize the arsonist of freedom that they have been enabling for the past four years.

Many of those people at the Capitol believed their nonsense about the election being stole from them. They saw themselves as patriots because they believed their President who channeled their grievances. His words were repeated by others and therefore they needed to do something.

This is what happens when people think bad people in positions of authority will not be “too bad” if we like their tax policy or judges or regulatory actions. It is always fatal to ignore what you know is wrong.

The actions of today will resonate for a long time and names like Trump and Cruz and Hawley will be linked to them forever. I hope they like what is coming next because they will have earned it.
