I think we all need to understand what is happening with the investigation by the Select Committee investigating the January 6 assault on the Capitol. This committee only exists because the Republicans in the Senate stopped a bi-partisan commission, five Democrats, five Republicans and equal staff, from being formed.

Evidently Mitch McConnell’s brief moment of country over party so exhausted his capacity for such a calculus that he has become the enabler of the man he allegedly despises.  His actions reenforce the Trump madness that has infected elected Republicans in Washington. Liz Cheney is a pariah, but Marjorie Taylor Greene is not.

I spoke with a Republican friend recently and asked him if my fear for my country was exaggerated if these Republicans regained power. He told me that unfortunately I was correct. They do represent the possible end of our country as we have known it.

When you deny the fact of what happened January 6 and try to recast it as something other than an attempt to subvert our government process, who knows what you are capable of doing or saying.

There are a lot of things both parties could do better, but only one is led by a liar who is clearly willing to do anything to prevail. If that doesn’t scare you, you aren’t paying attention.
