It is hard to know where to begin. First, let’s point out that the “Great Negotiator” in the White House has failed to negotiate anything other than backing out of chaos he created.
Ukraine still is an active war zone as the Great Negotiator has been played like a violin by Putin. China got him to back down on his ridiculous tariff increase and, last time I checked, Canada is not a U.S. state.
The new war in the Middle East is a product of his ineptitude as a negotiator. Israel decided to move in spite of Trump’s ongoing negotiation with Iran. Trump now foolishly believes it will make Iran more eager to negotiate. The only short-term impact will be the dissolution of the thought that the U.S. could deter Israel from acting. If that is not possible, why would anyone deal with the Great Negotiator when his fecklessness is clear?
Finally, while Trump send troops to Los Angeles and decries the elected officials there, he is unable to negotiate anything other than trade deals that don’t involve his family’s financial interests (see Viet Nam). Perhaps he can work out a trade deal with Greenland or that island with no inhabitants (well, penguins) that was on his reciprocal tariff chart.
If I were the leader of another country, I would love to get with the Great Negotiator. He still thinks that bankruptcy is an option.
As usual, I agree with you. This sounds like the beginning of a Bill Mahar monologue- very clever and amusing, but sad. I hope all is well with you and your family. Alex and I are headed to London and Nice next weekend for a little father son bonding vacation. I am doing well and recovering nicely from back surgery that I had in November. No golf or pickleball for another 6 months but I can walk without pain which is great. I just got back from taking Anna’s 2 boys to Boston for 4 days to walk the Freedom Trail and visit all museums, Cambridge and other tourist attractions. What a great city to visit! Regards, Jake
