To use one of the then President’s favorite words, Donald Trump was disgusting in his State of the Union this week.

He attacked the defenseless, called people names, and lied voraciously about what he and his wingman, Elon Musk, are doing.

At the same time, he has had his unqualified Secretary of Defense stop fighting the Russians cyberwarfare, and had his dubious choice for Director of National Intelligence withhold vital intelligence from our alleged ally, Ukraine.

The conclusion appears to be that Trump and his cohorts want a world where he, Putin and Xi act like the winners of WWI* and divide up the world. Clearly, his willingness to betray Ukraine should surprise no one. And, if he has to give Xi the go ahead on Taiwan, who would be surprised? He has already signaled to Putin that whatever he can grab in Ukraine he can keep. And, since he seems Europe irrelevant, they, in his mind, should be grateful for whatever scraps he sends them.

Having seen all of this in a few short weeks, why would anyone believe that Trump (and he is the President so America is him at the moment) would not betray an ally for a better deal? After fiscally attacking Canada and Mexico with ridiculous tariffs, what can anyone count on from our country?

A final note to my friends who think Trump will support Israel. He will until he has a better offer because we know that values are never part of the equation with him. That is what used to make America not only great, but exceptional.

*As a reminder… after WWI, the winning countries divided up the former Austria-Hungarian Empire and the Ottoman Empire.  That was when the Balfour Doctrine created what later became Israel/Palestine.  Usually, once those same winner decided who got what, they installed their puppets so they could control the country.
