While we all observe the revenge tour of our President, we should note the Democratic revenge tour aimed at DNC Chair Ken Martin.

Martin wanted an autopsy report on the 2024 electoral disaster for the Democrats. When it was finished, he thought it was relatively worthless and instead of sharing it, he urged Democrats to look to the future while acknowledging the error of having a worthless report commissioned.

Before any of that happened, Martin committed the original sin of defeating the Democratic establishment’s candidate for DNC chair. He compounded this by firing most of the consultants who made millions while losing races and spending over $1 billion on which they received hefty commissions. Most of these consultants had close ties to Democratic leaders in Congress and their dismissal led them to encourage large donors with whom they and the leaders associate to not help the DNC financially.

The fact that the Martin-led DNC has been successful in virtually every race in 2025 didn’t  matter. He has the audacity to send money to the state parties in an approach similar to what Howard Dean did 20 years ago which led to the Democrats retaking the House in 2006. And, this money being sent to the state parties does not create opportunities for the fired consultants.

Now the Democrats are approaching midterm elections that could result in retaking both houses of Congress. The issues at stake are far reaching for many Americans and the world. Yet, we have some Democrats who think this is the time to attack Martin over a botched report that he has already apologized for.

Ken Martin may not be a perfect DNC chair, but he is the best one I have seen since Howard Dean. If the inside-the-Beltway crowd would just shut up and let him do his job, the likelihood of success would be greater.  Maybe they should just get with their consultant friends and go off to count their money, leaving the rest of us with a chance to save America.
